The Enchanted Island

As part of a second year university module, being a Birmingham City Costume Design and Practice student I had the opportunity to collaborate with The Royal Birmingham Conservatoire and director Jamie Hayes to create an opera production of The Enchanted Island. The Enchanted Island contains a blend of characters and narratives from Shakespeare's The Tempest and A Midsummer Nights Dream.

In a team of 3, I and two other students designed and created costumes for the 34 members of the operatic chorus. The costumes consisted of accoutrements for the chorus members who appear in the four worlds of production, including clothing items such as waistcoats and togas as well as accessories such as wigs and neck ruffs to represent each world.
